Disclosure: SendSawa is our product, and we ranked it first.
If you sell to buyers in Nigeria from Instagram, TikTok or WhatsApp, the best online store builder is the one that costs you the least per order and lets a buyer pay without messaging you first. On those two tests, SendSawa comes first. Bumpa is the better pick if you also sell from a physical shop.
The other six are good at something. The trick is knowing which seller each one was built for, because a tool built for someone else is where most of the wasted money goes.
What is an online store builder?
An online store builder gives you a shop on the internet without hiring a developer. You add your products, prices and photos, and you get a link buyers can open to browse, add to a cart and pay.
It is different from a payment link, which only takes money, and from a marketplace like Jumia, which puts your products next to everyone else's and takes a cut of each sale.
What to look for in a store builder in Nigeria
Before you compare any two, check these four things:
- Is it priced in naira? A dollar plan goes up every time the naira falls.
- What does it take from each sale? A flat monthly fee gets cheaper per order as you grow. A percentage gets more expensive.
- Can buyers pay by card and bank transfer? Most Nigerian buyers want both, and the money should land in a Nigerian account.
- How long does setup take? If you need a weekend and a developer, that is a weekend of sales you did not make.

1. SendSawa: best for sellers who sell from social media
SendSawa is built for one kind of seller: someone whose shop is the link in their Instagram bio, TikTok profile or WhatsApp status. You get a store at yourname.sendsawa.com that is usually live in about 5 minutes.
What it costs. The free plan holds 10 products with no time limit and no card needed. Growth is ₦5,000 a month, or ₦4,000 a month paid yearly, for unlimited products. SendSawa takes 0% of your sales on every plan. Card payments go through Korapay and the buyer pays the card fee at checkout. Bank transfers go straight into your account.
What it does well. Buyers pick a size or colour, add several items to a cart and pay on their own. Stock drops with each order, so you never sell the last item twice. There is a Chat on WhatsApp button for buyers who want to ask first. On Growth you get offers on your store, a list of buyers who left a full cart with a WhatsApp message ready to send, reviews from real buyers, and sales numbers.
Where it falls short. There is no point of sale for a physical shop, no staff logins, no SMS or email campaigns, and no way to sell courses or downloads. Selling to buyers abroad in their own currency is limited.
Pick it if most of your orders start in a DM.
2. Bumpa: best for shops with a counter and staff
Bumpa is a Nigerian store builder that does far more than a website. It has a point of sale for in-person sales, staff accounts, stock across more than one location, and SMS and email campaigns.
What it costs. There is a free Basic plan. Starter is ₦15,000 a quarter, Pro is ₦30,000 a quarter, and Growth is ₦200,000 a year. You cannot pay monthly. Bumpa takes 0% of your sales.
Where it falls short. You pay three months up front even in a slow month, and there is more to set up before you can share your link.
Pick it if you sell in person as well as online, or have staff. See how Bumpa and SendSawa compare.
3. Catlog: best for sellers who want a cheap monthly plan with invoices
Catlog is a Nigerian store builder with a store link, orders and invoices in one place.
What it costs. Basic is ₦4,750 a month and Business+ is ₦9,750 a month. You can also pay every three or six months for a small discount.
Where it falls short. There is no plan you can stay on for free, so you pay from your first month.
Pick it if you want a monthly naira plan and send a lot of invoices.
4. Selar: best for courses, ebooks and downloads
Selar was built for digital products. It handles course hosting, email marketing and buyers who pay in dollars or pounds.
What it costs. The free plan costs nothing up front, but Selar keeps about 4% + ₦50 from each naira sale. Its Turbo plan is ₦12,000 a month and the fee still applies on top.
Where it falls short. Stock counts and size options are limited, so it is awkward for clothes, hair or skincare. The percentage fee also grows with your sales.
Pick it if you sell something people download. See what 4% really costs.
5. Paystack Storefront: best for a handful of products
Paystack Storefront puts a list of your products next to Paystack's checkout. It is free with a Paystack account.
What it costs. Nothing for the storefront. Paystack's normal payment fee applies to each sale: 1.5% + ₦100, with the ₦100 waived under ₦2,500, capped at ₦2,000.
Where it falls short. It does not count stock, and there is little room for your brand. It is a product list with a checkout, not a full store.
Pick it if you sell four or five items and never run out. See when you have outgrown it.
6. Flutterwave Store: best if you already use Flutterwave
Flutterwave Store is a free storefront tied to your Flutterwave account, with a wide range of ways for buyers to pay.
What it costs. No monthly fee. Flutterwave keeps 2% of local naira payments, capped at ₦2,000, plus VAT on the fee.
Where it falls short. Stock does not drop when you make a sale, and there are no low-stock alerts.
Pick it if your business already runs on Flutterwave.
7. Shopify: best for selling abroad
Shopify is the biggest store builder in the world, with the most themes and apps.
What it costs. Basic is $27 a month, or $19 a month paid yearly. Shopify Payments does not work in Nigeria, so you use another gateway, and Shopify adds 2% per order on Basic on top of that gateway's own fee.
Where it falls short. Your bill changes with the exchange rate, and paid themes, apps and a developer add up fast.
Pick it if most of your buyers are abroad. See the full Shopify sum.
8. WordPress with WooCommerce: best if you have a developer
WooCommerce is free software that turns a WordPress site into a store. You can add Paystack or Flutterwave to take payments.
What it costs. The software is free. You pay for hosting and a domain, usually yearly, and often for someone to set it up and keep it updated.
Where it falls short. When something breaks, it is your job to fix it.
Pick it if you want full control and have someone technical to help.
How we ranked these store builders
We ranked for a seller in Nigeria who gets buyers from social media and sells physical goods, weighting the cost per order, whether a buyer can pay without a DM, and how fast you can start. If you run a physical shop, sell downloads or sell abroad, the order changes, and the "Pick it if" line under each tool tells you where to look.
